Prayer warriors needed

Please pray for Bishop John in regard to his health condition.  We pray that God's protection and healing enables him to live the abundant life that God calls us all to live.

To all Mackay & District Church Leaders,
Tonight I received information about a call to prayer organised by the Heads of Churches in Brisbane. This is in response called for by the Premier some weeks ago.
They have called for a launch in Brisbane this Thursday morning in St John's Cathedral at 7.30am. The week of prayer for rain will cover Sunday 5th to Sunday 12th November.
The letter encourages churches in regional centres to hold their own launch or prayer services.
The joint letter from the Heads of Churches of Queensland supporting this represent: The Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist Union, Churches of Christ, Greek Orthodox, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Salvation Army and Uniting churches.
Last week, our secretary of the ICC mailed out to churches a call to a 40 day Prayer time concerning the drought.
With these two calls, I believe it would be good if we can come together in a practical show of unity to respond to the crisis that is hitting not only our state but the whole of Australia.
I am interested therefore in getting some feedback. A number of Pastors already get together for prayer on Fridays. One of these prayer times is at the Baptist Church at 7.00am. This could be a good time for those who can gather to pray, plan and launch a week of prayer in Mackay. Some may prefer a different time. I am open for suggestions. Alternatively we could meet at the same time on Thursday as they are in Brisbane. 7.30am. Would anyone in the city like to volunteer their church for a launch meeting?
Please get back to me with suggestions and comments. We will need to act swiftly.
Yours in Christ,

Euan McDonald
Chair
Mackay & District ICC

Request from the Bishop's office

In my current position I receive emails every day detailing many of the atrocities that are not reported in the press, and from both perspectives of the conflict. The Anglican Communion is being effected from both sides of this fight. Lebanese and Israeli Christians are being killed or maimed daily. In many cases effective relief aid is unable to reach the affected areas. Innocent people are suffering.

I cannot believe that God could possibly approve of any of this, no matter what we may hold as the truth.

Could I therefore ask that Parishes consider in their intercessions this week, a prayer for an immediate cease-fire, and a response to the growing humanitarian crisis developing in that part of the world. Let us pray that this madness may be stopped before it spreads any further.

 With Christian regards,

Kevin

No weapon formed against us will prosper

Come Holy Spirit.

Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

Spirit of Right Judgement and Courage

Spirit of Knowledge and Reverence

Spirit of Wonder and Awe,

Give us always a sense of your presence

Be with the people of our Diocese

As we seek to fulfil your purpose and work to see the Reign of God fulfilled.

As we read the Signs of our Times let the problems challenge us,

the discoveries exhilarate us,

its injustices anger us,

its possibilities inspire us.

Guide us by your light,

enliven us with your breath,

enflame us in your love.

Amen.
